Why do we only use Diamonds, Sapphires & Rubies for this design? This design does not lend itself to Aquamarine, Moonstones, Peridot, etc... Only Diamonds Sapphire and Rubies due to the design and casting process.

My Precious Diamonds, Sapphires & Rubies are Mohs Scale 9-10 which means they can be "cast in place" with the wax model, giving you a more permanent diamond or gemstone setting.

I prefer to use these stones because they can withstand 1000+ temperatures which are diamonds, sapphires and rubies.

The #1 Reason I like to use these particular stones is because of the design, I can sculpt the leaves on the stones and cast everything together, giving my designs a very natural look.

Here is a little about our unique found hand cut Montana Sapphires.

This Teal Montana Sapphire was hand cut using a very old Jamb Peg Machine which is a device used in faceting gems comprising a piece of wood containing a series of holes in which a dop stick can be fixed at varying angles. These are hand cut so the faceting is not calibrated (Machined perfection) and may be slightly uneven with slight imperfections in the sapphire.

 These are beautiful natural stones that have not been heat treated or glassed filled.

In the figure to the left you can see the basic set up of a traditional jamb peg faceter. The spinning lap provides the grinding and polishing surface, the wooden "dop" sticks to which the rough is adhered, serve to hold the stone in position as various cuts are made. 

The angle of the cut is controlled by placing the dop stick in a particular hole, the depth of cut is controlled by the amount of time the piece spends in contact with the lap and how hard the facetor presses down on it, and the radial position is controlled by removing, slightly rotating, and reinserting the dopstick in its hole as each different cut is made. Most stones that are cut on such equipment are referred to as "native cut".

Made-to-Order Gemstone Leaf Twig Vine Silver Promise Ring, hand sculpted by Dawn Vertrees.

I hand sculpted a twig band using the lost wax method and then added my hand sculpted leaves. Each leaf each having my signature texture and then added a stem to each leaf. The vine wraps around the twig giving the eternity ring additional depth. This band has 360 design and is made in your size.

On the inside of the ring, we gave the ring a mirror finish for comfort and then oxidized the ring to bring out it tiny detail. This ring is available without the oxidation.

This ring lends itself to so many options such as a raw uncut diamond, Moissanite Diamonds, small scattered diamonds or as shown, 1 - 1.75mm gemstones.

Gemstone: 1.75mm polished faceted natural Amethyst.
925 stamped Sterling Silver with optional light oxidation.
