Gemstone Rings — From Hand-Carved Wax to Cast Metal

 🌿 The Art Behind My Gemstone Rings

Every gemstone ring I create begins in wax. I carve each detail by hand — the branches, the textures, the curves — building the design one small stroke at a time. This is where the ring’s personality is born.

Below are two versions of the same ring design, showing how a simple wax base can grow into a sculptural, nature-inspired piece of jewelry.

Wax Model & Finished Ring — Green Amethyst Leaf-Twig Ring

This design began as a hand-carved wax model, created to cradle a beautiful green amethyst in two organic leaf-shaped prongs. Every groove, vein, and curve was sculpted by hand to capture the natural movement of leaves wrapping gently around the stone.

The final ring is cast in solid sterling silver and finished with a rich oxidized patina, enhancing the depth of the twig texture and bringing out all the fine organic details.

Sterling Silver One-of-a-kind 5 carat Rough Diamond Design by Dawn

The wax model has been completed; next step is casting the model in Sterling Silver.

Modeling the matching Twig Band in jeweler's wax. There will be a Twig version as well as a Leaf & Twig Version.

 Starting on a new Sterling Silver, One-of-a-kind design based on my new 2 prong design.  My daughter, my awesome business partner has requested this design to be made with two options for the second band. 

A complimentary matching leaf band as well as a matching twig band. So in the next two weeks, I'll sculpt in wax a matching leaf band as well as a twig band...it's gonna be fun because I love what I do.

New Lemon Quartz Vine Design

I have been sitting on this stone for a while now but the design finally hit me while in Winston-Salem at a convention. It was the perfect stone for trying out my new Vine Design.

I'm not particular fond of the tradition straight line settings that most stones sit in...especially since I don't care for straight lines in the first place.

My father has always told me that nothing in nature grows straight, so I sculpted this ring as if the vines were holding the ring up and my leaves were holding the stone down.

Well I'm happy to say...I'll probably never go back to a straight setting again. I think it came out beautiful...
