We played today...

My Sister-in-law, Carolyn Schulz came from England visit us this weekend and she showed
Don & myself Shambala. Its a popular macrame knotting method that
they make bracelets out of. So the night before, we headed out
to A.G. Moore to pick up some fun supplies.

I dug out some of my beads from about 5 years ago and some
barrel leaf beads that I sculpted 4 years ago and with her shambala
methods produced this really cool bracelet.

...I had three more Leaf Barrel Beads and some 10mm black

onyx beads and created this bracelt as well.

Don, my husband tried his hands at Shambala and created this

bracelet using 10 Jasper Beads. 

Carolyn Schulz is a freelance craft designer, teacher and businesswoman. Her experience ranges from scrapbooking to Christmas decorations and over the last 20 years, Carolyn has focused her attention on jewellery design.
Working in both the British and American market for over 30 years, she has edited 3 popular craft magazines, and is currently authoring a fourth book. Fusion Starfish Pendant

Hand sculpted Starfish Pendant using the lost wax process and cast in Sterling Silver with oxidation added to bring out my detail. Fusion is a new line I introduced this month to be combined with my Ocean Reef Collection. Fusion is a combination of a classic Starfish but with Fan Coral laying on the starfish, fusing itself to the starfish.

I wanted to create a true piece of wearable art.

The piece is 2" in diameter.

This was my first lost wax demo at the Charlotte Fine Arts Show this past weekend...it was pretty awesome talking to so many people who had no clue that my jewelry was made using sheets of wax that I hand sculpted.

I started out by sketching out a leaf necklace and made individual leaves and added them to my wax wire. I had wax sheets, wax wire and all of my tools including my favorite Wax Pen. They could touch the wax, handle the tools...whatever, it was great!

New Fusion Ocean Cuff

While waiting on a new mandrel to come in for Diane's Starfish Cuff I finished up a new Fusion Cuff...It will have the fan coral fused into the cuff with the starfish dots. This cuff will be only 7/8" wide, Medium to Large Cuff which is rare for me to do...I usually start at 2" I'm hoping to do a three-tone finish of 18k gold plated finish on the fan coral and Sterling Silver Dots with a Black Rhodium Finish or just a very dark antiquing.

The piece will take on the Fusion design once completed...dots and all too!

Our very own model...

My daughter-in-law, Sandra Simms has graciously accepted my request to

model some of my jewelry so that you can see how they look on a person,

with a dress etc. Sandra is about 5'6", slim and beautiful blue eyes.

Here she is wearing a Fan Coral Necklace from my

Ocean Reef Collection. It's Sterling Silver, Solid 14k gold and three

small accent diamonds.

Here is a perfect example of what I wanted to accomplish having

Sandra wear my jewelry. This Starfish cuff fits a medium wrist which Sandra has.

...another perfect example, Sandra wears a size 7 ring and

although she doesn't have short fingers, she doesn't have

extra long either.

These are just great everyday Bamboo Rings.

Two new Bamboo Bands, very simple but has all the

detail that a bamboo ring should have. The one on the left is more contemporay

whereas the one on the right is your traditional bamboo wrap.

Completed! These turned out adorable, I must take some time to make more of these.

If you like my small kudzu cuff...these cute little rings are the matching pieces,
especially the one on the left. The Kudzu band on the right is a little chunkier...but
they both look as if you went out into the woods and wrapped a twig around your finger.
These will be two tone, twig in Sterling Silver and the leaves in 14 gold or 18k gold plated.

OK...this is just cool. Definitely will be making a complete set.

OK, my thinking sort of took a detour somewhere else in my brain but once I put this on (in wax),

it was way too cool. If you like long rings like I do...this is it. This one will have to be

cast and re-photographed asap...because it's just too cool. Katie??? Are you seeing this one?

Bamboo Dream Cuff

I'm going to call this my Dream Cuff because in one
split second while asleep, I saw this design flash by.
So while at our show in Gainesville, FL the next morning, I quickly sketched it out.

I threw it out there while talking to some of my customers and got a thumbs up
on the concept. So, this is where I'm at, if I can design this without being a weapon on
your arm, then it's a go...more later.

inch hoop earring for pierced ears with the sculpted Starfish dots along with the
Fan Coral texture flowing together.

I'm not going to be shy about this ring...I love it.

I sculpted a graduated bamboo base and then added three little bamboo leaves to each section of the bamboo. The "Edge" comes from where the wide bamboo starts and the small bamboo begins.
