Ocean Reef Collection - Baroque Pearl Pendant

Formed around a very large baroque pearl with pronounced nodelles, I have designed a setting of fan coral and plate coral in both Sterling Silver and 14K Yellow Gold. And, to keep this piece looking shiny and new, I've added a Rhodium Plating to the Sterling Silver. It's designed to accept a medium to large width Omega Chain, or a conventional chain up to 4.5 mm in diameter. Because of the unique shape of each baroque pearl, this piece is one of a kind.

This is my version of Coral without taking it from our disappearing sources. I hand sculpted the coral as if it was growing on the ocean floor and a pearl fell into the water and lodged itself between the little coral fingers, well in my mind...that's what I see.

More than any other gem, each opal is distinctly an individual. No other stone has as rich and varied a folklore. Opals are also the most delicate gems commonly worn. They require special care to insure their health and longevity.

Opal's fire was long thought to be the result of iridescence. However, with the advent of scanning electron microscopes, we now know that it is a result of diffraction.

Doublet Opal - A doublet opal is not a solid opal: doublets are made of thin slices of fine quality opal (generally light opal) attached to a backing piece of black potch, glass or Queensland ironstone, thus resembling natural black opal or Queensland boulder opal.

Major suppliers include Australia, Brazil, Mexico, and the US. Values are normally determined by the presence and nature of color flashes.

11.84ct Emerald Cut Lemon Citrine
Named from the French name for lemon,"citron," many citrines have a juicy lemon color. Citrine includes yellow to gold to orange-brown shades of transparent quartz. Although the darker, orange colors of citrine, sometimes called Madeira citrine after the color of the wine, has generally been the most valued color, in modern times, many people prefer the bright lemony shades which mix better with pastel colors. Citrine is generally more inexpensive than amethyst and is also available in a wide range of calibrated sizes and shapes, including very large sizes.

Most citrine is mined in Brazil, with deposits also found in Myanmar (Burma), Russia, Madagascar, Namibia and Argentina.
