Cattleya walkeriana,
more than 75 American Orchid Society awards are granted to this beautiful cattleya from the Amazon Basin in Brazil which was described in 1847.  Its desirable qualities include small plant size and a large flower with heavy substance. The species often blooms more than once a year which makes this both a fabulous plant and a great parent.  A portion of the sale of this charm goes to the AOS mission of supporting the passion for orchids in education, conservation and research.

Paphiopedilum fairrieanum, more than 100 American Orchid Society awards are granted to this distinctive Indian orchid.  It was rare when described in 1847 and named for Mr. R. Fairrie of Liverpool, England. It is an elegant, usually single flower with charmingly upturned petals and the plant is now considered endangered. AOS awards identify superior plants - symmetry is very important as is size, form and color. AOS Winner's Circle Collection - Vanda sanderiana Charm Necklace

Vanda sanderiana, more than 140 American Orchid Society awards are granted to this gorgeous Philippine orchid.  It is an important building block in modern vanda hybridizing and passes its award winning qualities on to its many progeny.  The flower is two toned, pale on the upper portion with darker color and patterning on the lower portion. AOS awards go to large, round and flat flowers with clear colors.  A portion of the sale of this charm goes to the AOS mission of supporting the passion for orchids in education, conservation and research.

Odontoglossum crispum Charm Necklace

Odontoglossum crispum, the 25 awards from the American Orchid Society do not reflect the importance of this historical flower.  Described in 1847 the plant is found in the Andes Mountains in Southern Colombia and its discovery contributed to the orchidelirium of the 1800’s.  It was the most sought after orchid of Victorian times.  The variation of patterns in the flower is remarkable which added to the excitement as new clones were discovered.   A portion of the sale of this charm goes to the AOS mission of supporting the passion for orchids in education, conservation and research.

Rlc. Edisto, a complex hybrid cattleya has 16 different species in its background, all contributing to a fabulous 6-inch flower with a ruffled lip.  American Orchid Society judges look for multiple large flowers with good presentation and form along with vibrant color, heavy substance and a velvety texture.  This cross was made in 1982; presently there are 7 awards to it.  It is a good representation of modern cattleya breeding.  A portion of the sale of this charm goes to the AOS mission of supporting the passion for orchids in education, conservation and research.
